CURTIS W. MARTIN, a shareholder of Ford Nassen & Baldwin P.C., represents parties involved in construction and government contracts. His clients include public and private owners, developers, general contractors, large and sophisticated specialty trade contractors, and various other participants in a broad range of projects, including commercial, industrial, institutional, heavy/highway, utility and interior work. His practice covers all facets of the construction process, from the preparation of contract documents, counseling on risk management, business and legal issues that arise during projects, and resolution of disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation.
Admissions and Qualifications
Mr. Martin is licensed to practice in all courts of the State of Texas, and Georgia, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Federal Claims. He has taught construction law at the collegiate and post-graduate level at public universities, and has lectured on construction law and construction management around the country and around the world. He has written extensively on these topics as well as risk management in the construction industry. Mr. Martin has also worked in industry; he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of an ENR-400 construction company.
Professional Affiliations
Mr. Martin has served on or led various bar committees and/or subcommittees. He also serves on industry committees, including the AGC Texas Building Branch’s legal committee and the national AGC’s Risk Management Committee. He lives in the Spring Branch Independent School District; he chaired the SBISD Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee, and currently co-chairs the SBISD Bond Oversight Committee. He also serves as a mediator and arbitrator and is on the American Arbitration Association’s Large Complex Construction Case Panel of Construction Arbitrators.
